About
Launched in January 2009, ExtraordinAIRy Treasures is a community recognition program honoring many in our community who may otherwise go unnoticed. The purpose of our program is to honor individuals who showcase extraordinary qualities on a daily basis giving comfort, hope, inspiration, respect, service, and love to those around them. We call these people ExtraordinAIRy Treasures because they are just that… people of extraordinary character and a true treasure to our community and our future. The world is full of these treasures, and we believe the ExtraordinAIRy Treasures program provides us all with a breath of fresh air during our nation’s turbulent times.
In 2009 Williams Comfort Air’s ExtraordinAIRy Treasures program awarded scholarships to two Central Indiana students, recognized two hometown heroes and several local children. In addition, ExtraordinAIRy Treasures sponsored the Autism Walk in Carmel and hosted the second annual blood drive in honor of Noblesville’s Michael Treinen who lost his battle with leukemia in 2008.
During 2010 Extraordinary Treasures will increase its scholarship program by awarding six one-time scholarships to Central Indiana high school seniors. In addition, we will honor several hometown heroes and teachers with a $500 cash gift as well as a $500 matching donation for their chosen non-profit organization or school. We will continue to host our blood drive and sponsor the Autism Walk as well as sponsor the 2010 Hamilton County Spelling Bee in support of extraordinary education.
Nominations for the ExtraordinAIRy Treasures program take place throughout the year. Williams Comfort Air is grateful to be able to continue supporting our community through our ExtraordinAIRy Treasures program.
Scholarships
Williams Comfort Air, heating and cooling specialists located in Carmel, Indiana, is now accepting nominations for its ExtraordinAIRy Treasures annual scholarship program. Six one-time scholarships totaling $5,000 will be awarded to high school seniors who are seen as ExtraordinAIRy Treasures to our future. These students will have demonstrated ExtraordinAIRy life skills including community service, leadership activities, and family commitment. Students from Boone, Hamilton, Hancock, Hendricks, Johnson, Madison, Marion, Morgan, and Shelby counties who will enroll in a university, community college, or vocational/trade school upon graduation can be nominated. There are no requirements for GPA or career choice.
Four $1,000 scholarships and two $500 scholarships will be awarded based on a 400-word essay, submitted by anyone, such as a parent, teacher, counselor, neighbor, or employer. Essays should convey why this high school senior is an ExtraordinAIRy Treasure to our future by including an overview of the nominee’s life skills in action such as integrity, kindness, and commitment to community to name a few. In addition, each nomination must include two additional references from adults who interact with the student in either academic or extracurricular activities. Williams Comfort Air will accept nominations from February 1, 2010 through April 13, 2010.
A Williams Comfort Air committee will determine the six scholarship recipients. Three $1000 scholarships will be awarded to the top three students. The remaining $1000 and $500 scholarships will be awarded based on an on-line vote from April 21, 2010 to May 12, 2010. ExtraordinAIRy Treasures Scholarship recipients will be announced the week of May 17, 2010.
